Meditation is a mindfulness practice that has been around since time immemorial to help quiet the mind, generate stillness, inner peace and balance within the body, mind and spirit. It is a way of training one’s consciousness to focus inward rather than on outward stimuli – doing so can assist to activate dormant DNA, nourish psychic abilities, connect with your team of spirit, your higher self, God. Consistent meditation can be utilized to create a bridge to Nirvana or Heaven on Earth. Most commonly though, in vanilla terms, it’s used as a tool to to help calm, center and anchor an overstimulated mind.
How do you meditate?
There are several styles and techniques to meditate. The most common form of meditation is performed alone, seated, in a quiet location with the eyes closed. The goal is to still the mind and hold that stillness for the duration of the meditation. That’s it. Nothing more is required.
The majority of people, however, find this simple task intimidating, daunting or even unachievable to try attempting. This is where giving the mind something to focus on can be helpful. This form of meditation is called Concentration Meditation.
With concentration meditation the individual typically will give their mind something to focus on like a mantra, phrase, color or area of their body. Some choose to meditate with their eyes open, while gazing at a candle, crystal, flower or some other focal point of choice.
Once the mind starts to drift to something other than that object, you are to catch yourself and redirect your attention back to the object, phrase, visualization or following the breath. Once the meditator feels sufficient time has passed, they then exit the meditation simply by opening their eyes and moving about.
There are also walking meditations where people choose to walk with the intention of staying present through each step and movement of the body, putting their mind in their feet as they feel as the ankle flexing to pull the toes upward and the heel planting forward in front of them, followed by the descent of the toes, landing like a wave from heel to toes, upon the ground. Feeling the texture of the ground. Noticing other sensations around them. Some choose to do these walking meditations along a designated path or even in a labyrinth.

What are the benefits of regular meditation?
Several scientific studies on people who meditate regularly have been conducted over the years, showing the immense benefits meditation can have on the brain. These studies utilized electroencephalography (EEG) and structural/functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure and record the brain in people who regularly meditated.
These studies have particularly shown an increase in gray matter in the prefrontal cortex – associated with awareness, concentration, memory and decision making as well as improved neural connectivity and cognitive function.
Regular meditation also improves neuroplasticity or the brain’s ability to change and rewire itself based on new information and experiences. By enhancing connectivity between different brain regions, meditation can improve cognitive functions, information processing and emotional regulation.
Larger quantities of positive neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine in the brain are produced which helps maintain a healthy emotional state and helping regulate functions like sleep, growth and metabolism.
Meditation alters our brain waves such as gamma waves, which are related to heightened perception, problem solving and consciousness. While some areas of the brain grow and increase, others decrease, such as the amygdala. The amygdala is the fear center of the brain which is connected to our flight or fight response, adrenaline and cortisol. Reduction in size of this particular area of the brain is proof that meditation helps to reduce stress.
If one can create such substantial change in the brain, the body naturally responds in kind. Reduction in stress hormones such as norepinephrine, adrenaline and cortisol plummet. This produces a cascading effect on every organ and cell of the body: switching off the sympathetic stress pedal and turning on the parasympathetic relaxation pedal. This helps to improve sleep, metabolism, weight loss, blood pressure and heartbeat regulation, muscular tension relief, bowel movements and sexual function. All of the above help to boost the immune system and decrease inflammation in the body.
What are the metaphysical benefits of having a regular meditation practice?
When you consistently turn your focused attention within, instead of outwards, entire Universes begin to open up, or I should say Innerverses. You will begin to cultivate a relationship to the One Creator who dwells within you and who has always been a part of you.
When your body and mind are allowed the space and time to quiet themselves dormant energy centers will open up and naturally attune and align themselves into harmony. These energy centers are referred to chakras that run from the base of your spine, all the way up to the crown of your head.
You may receive messages from your Higher Self or Spirit Guides may begin to introduce themselves to you as you deepen your connection to your daily practice. Insights will pour in, intuitive knowings, visions, hearings or feelings will come more frequently. Solutions to current challenges will be given. You will notice a greater flow through each day, greater patience, gratitude and appreciation for things you once took for granted. You will feel more supported and guided by God and your team of spirit.
You may notice an increase in synchronicities occurring in your day to day life as well as seeing angel numbers everywhere you look: clocks, license plates, receipts, bills, etcetera. These are all conscious confirmations and messages that your team is working along side you as you walk your spiritual path.
Dreams will become more vivid and sometimes even prophetic. You will develop a greater sensitivity to the world and people around you with both your regular 5 senses and your newly developing 6th senses.
Showing up consistently to your meditation space with pure intentions will help to align you on your God-given natural path, your natural blueprint for what you incarnated into this lifetime to live out and express. Everything you need to access this sacred technology is within and your potential becomes limitless.
Can meditation be dangerous?
It is important to learn how to protect both your energy and your space before going into meditation. Make sure you verbally say that you are unavailable to any lower vibrational entities, beings, groups or spirits and you’re only available for those who are of the highest vibrational Christ-Consciousness energy and light who are there to assist and support you on your highest God-given path.
Everything and everyone else lower than that are revoked from accessing your space and energy. Seal off your space with a protection of white or gold light or imagine a golden or white light that is surrounding you as a shield.
You can reword and curate how you want to set up your protective meditation space in whichever way that resonates with you but the above will give you a firm guideline on how to go about it.
If you attempt to just jump right in to meditation without protection you could possibly invite in malevolent and ill-intentioned energies which can more easily attach and gain access to you because when you raise your vibration you are, in turn, increasing your energetic light around you which becomes like a porch light on – attracting all kinds of undesirable pests who will interfere with what you are trying to accomplish. These lower vibrational energies can attach to you like a parasite and can even start to dominate your thoughts and actions to their liking.
Other more obvious dangers would be meditating while operating heavy machinery or driving or while you should be paying attention to your surroundings, tasks at hand or have small children or babies that need to be attended to. You also wouldn’t want to meditate in a space where past traumas have occurred or on top of a Native American burial ground. Just some common sense examples for precaution and warning.
In Conclusion
To conclude, meditation has a plethora of benefits for your mind, body and spirit. Whether you do it for stress relief, neuroplasticity benefits or to deepen your connection to God, there is no reason not to cultivate a regular meditation practice.
